Occupational Therapy

We are a team of independent paediatric occupational therapists. We work with children and their families to support them to develop and improve skills in areas that are important to them, ranging from riding a bike to self-care to handwriting.

Ayres’ Sensory Integration Therapy (ASI)

Sensory Integration was defined as “The neurological process that organises sensation from one’s own body and from the environment and makes it possible to use the body effectively with the environment” by Jean Ayres. (ADD REF). All our therapists have completed post-graduate training in ASI either through CLASI or Sensory Integration Education.

To the child, the therapy sessions are play, to us they are carefully set up to foster the just right challenge to develop the skills identified through assessment and goal setting. For example, to ride a bike, a child needs to develop skills with postural control, balance, bilateral integration, judging speed and distance and many more. In ASI therapy sessions, activities will be designed to work on these skills through playing on swings, climbing, scooter boards, using targets and much more.

Our Therapy Space

Our therapy space is in Aigburth, Liverpool, and meets the fidelity criteria to offer ASI. We also have a smaller and quieter room, and can store equipment away to allow space for assessments.
